Six rescued, two children traced in weekend incidents along Goa coast

Goa Khabar : Six persons were rescued, including four from drowning, along Goa’s coastline over the weekend, while two missing children were traced and reunited with their families. Drishti Marine Lifesavers also assisted in the recovery of a lost mobile phone, while continuing routine patrols across Goa’s extensive beachline.

Baga beach: A 12-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh was rescued after she lost balance and drifted into deeper waters while swimming close to shore. Drishti Marine lifesavers responded immediately and brought her safely back to shore. In a separate incident at the same beach, a child reported missing by parents was traced after announcements were made along the stretch and reunited with the family. Lifesavers and beach marshals also assisted in recovering a lost mobile phone at Baga. The device was found during a patrol and returned to its owner after due verification in the presence of the police.

Calangute beach: Two men aged 21 and 28 from Bengaluru were rescued after drifting into deeper waters and struggling to return to shore. Lifesavers carried out a timely intervention and brought both individuals safely ashore. In another incident at the same beach, a  seven-year-old boy from aipur, Rajasthan, who had gone missing, was located after a coordinated search and reunited with his father, after following proper identification protocol. 

Candolim beach: At Candolim beach, a 16-year-old girl from Ludhiana was provided medical assistance after suffering an epileptic episode following water sports activity. Drishti Marine lifesavers rushed to the spot and administered first aid, ensuring she was placed in a recovery position. The girl was later shifted her to a nearby health facility.

Benaulim beach: At Benaulim beach, a 71-year-old man from Pune sustained injuries after being bitten by stray dogs while running along the shore. Lifesavers attended to him promptly, provided first aid and ensured he was stabilised.

Agonda beach: A 48-year-old man from Pune was rescued after falling off a kayak nearly 100 metres into the sea and being unable to return to shore. Lifesavers deployed a jet ski to reach the individual and safely brought him back.
