Goa Khabar : Dempo Sports Club to face Sreenidi Deccan FC at the Deccan Arena, Hyderabad in Matchweek 5 of the Indian Football League 2025-26.

Four games into the season, the Golden Eagles are yet to register a win, but the mood within the camp tells a different story. The performances have been there, the effort has been there and according to Head Coach Samir Naik, so has the belief.

“The boys are trying and we still try our best to win the games,” Naik said. “Hopefully this game will get something positive, maybe three points would be good to put us back on track.”

The defeat to Gokulam Kerala FC last week was a difficult moment for the squad, but Naik was clear that his players have responded the right way in the days since.

“After the defeat we didn’t take it in a very good way because we could have gotten something positive out of that game,” he said. “But the boys are trying.”

With the IFL table as tight as it has been all season, Naik knows the remaining Stage 1 fixtures are critical, not just for Dempo but for every side in the league.

“It is a very tight league, the table says it all,” he said. “All the teams are equally good.”

Centre-back Mohamed Ali was confident that the mood in the Dempo camp is far from what the table suggests. “Players are motivated but the results are not going our way,” he said. “We are playing according to the plan but sometimes a minor mistake causes a big problem, we are working on that and we will execute it in the next game.”

Ali was equally emphatic about the squad’s readiness heading into Wednesday’s fixture. “It is a full team, no matter who is given the opportunity on the field, we are all ready to play any position, anywhere, wherever the coach puts us,” he said.

Sreenidi Deccan FC sit fourth in the table and will be buoyed by home support at the Deccan Arena, but Dempo are determined and hopeful to make it a different story on Wednesday.
