Goa Khabar : Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Tuesday urged the Government to take urgent measures following the collapse of a cement slab at the Electricity Department office in Mapusa, warning that the deteriorating structure poses a grave risk to staff safety.
“With each passing day, the building continues to weaken, forcing employees to work under constant fear that the remaining slab may also give way. This situation is a serious threat to their lives. The Government must treat this matter with utmost seriousness and act immediately to prevent any untoward incident,” Alemao stated.
He stressed that until the premises are properly repaired and declared safe, staff should be shifted to an alternative location to ensure continuity of work without risk.
Alemao further demanded a comprehensive structural audit of all government buildings. “Even schools in the state are not safe. Structural audits have not been conducted in several talukas, and in some cases schools were declared unsafe only after inspection. This raises serious questions about the Government’s approach to public safety,” he added.
