Tuem hospital to open 13 OPDs and advanced research center next month

Goa Khabar : Hon’ble CM held a review meeting of 26th January 2026 at 4 pm to assess the progress of Tuem Hospital in presence of Secretary (Health), officials of Goa Medical College, Public Health Department and Directorate of Health Services.

After reviewing the progress of infrastructure and availability of the current facility, it was decided that the facility be commissioned for public use on 2nd February, 2026. The facility is to be name ‘Government Hospital and Research Center, Tuem (GMC Link)’.

13 OPDs of Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, AYUSH, Physiotherapy, Psychiatry, ENT, Radiology and Skin are to be made operational from 2nd February 2026. These OPDs will be operationalized with Doctors from Goa Medical College and Directorate of Health Services who will be providing services at this facility.

All the required ancilliary manpower of Nurses, Multi-tasking staff, facility management and housekeeping, Security Services etc shall be deployed in the facility before the commissioning date so that there are no hardships to people.

It was also decided that a dedicated research center be established at this facility to carry out advanced research in healthcare in collaboration with ‘National Centre for Disease Control’ and other such reputed research organizations.

Operational theatres will be commissioned within 4 months as the works of operationalizing these OTs are already in process of execution.

Being a critical facility developed for Pernem and surrounding areas, the commissioning of this facility will reduce the requirement of patients to travel to North Goa District Hospital and GMC Bambolim for healthcare services.
