Goa Khabar : Founder of YIMBY, Gourov Pokle, has been honoured with the “Inspiring Young Entrepreneur of the Year” award for his commitment to creating practical waste management solutions and building sustainable environmental impact at the community level.
The award was presented by Minister Mauvin Godinho, in the august presence of the Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, and Minister Rohan Khaunte, at a prestigious ceremony organised by the Vibrant Goa Foundation, in association with the Government of Goa. The event brought together leaders from government, industry, and social enterprises to recognise young changemakers driving meaningful impact.
The recognition celebrates YIMBY’s journey in designing and implementing decentralised waste management systems that enable communities to manage waste responsibly at the source. Through a combination of on-ground infrastructure, awareness initiatives, and capacity-building efforts, YIMBY has consistently worked towards reducing landfill dependency while promoting sustainable and scalable environmental practices.
Speaking on the occasion, Gourov Pokle said, “This award is deeply meaningful as it recognises not just an individual, but a shared belief—that sustainability begins at the community level. YIMBY’s work has always been driven by collaboration, persistence, and the conviction that practical solutions can create real change. I am grateful to the Vibrant Goa Foundation and the Government of Goa for their encouragement, and I dedicate this honour to the entire YIMBY team, our mentors, partners, and my family, whose support has been constant throughout this journey.”
