Goa Khabar : A heated exchange in the Goa Assembly between AAP MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant over the role of the RSS in India’s freedom struggle has sparked a sharp political confrontation, with AAP Goa President Valmiki Naik formally challenging BJP State President Damu Naik to a public debate on the issue.
AAP Goa President Valmiki Naik said the BJP’s aggressive reaction showed that the party was rattled after Capt. Venzy spoke historical facts in the Assembly. “The whole BJP got rattled yesterday because MLA Venzy spoke the truth. The RSS has no participation in India’s freedom struggle. The Chief Minister has no right to say that an elected MLA cannot speak on the RSS inside the Assembly. An MLA is protected by privilege, and silencing him goes against democratic values,” Valmiki Naik said.
Valmiki further said the BJP has repeatedly acted against the spirit of Vande Mataram. “The BJP has failed to act with the spirit of Vande Mataram. They should be ashamed of their actions. This government destroys land, rivers and hills, yet lectures others on nationalism,” he added.
AAP MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas stood firmly by his Assembly speech and reiterated his criticism of the BJP government. “What I said in the Assembly, I stand by it. BJP’s actions are against the spirit of Vande Mataram. This government has failed to protect Goa’s rivers, lakes and hills. They have failed to control crime and corruption in the state. BJP should apologise to the people of Goa for this misrule,” Venzy said.
Later in the day, after BJP State President Damu Naik refused to accept the challenge for a debate and instead made allegations against AAP national leader Arvind Kejriwal, Valmiki Naik hit back sharply. “Damu Bab should not avoid the debate by making false allegations. If he believes he is right, he should come for an open debate. He can prove his claims and I will prove mine. By avoiding the debate, Damu Naik has effectively admitted that what Capt. Venzy said in the Assembly is true,” Valmiki Naik said.
AAP asserted that it will continue to raise uncomfortable questions, defend democratic rights inside the Assembly, and challenge the BJP on historical truth, governance failures, and its misuse of nationalism to hide corruption and misrule.
