Sapna Patel of UP and Prathamesh Paramkar of Belgavi top the 32km race.
Goa Khabar: Petra Pastorova of the Czech Republic and Nilesh Kulaye of Ratnagiri won the prestigious 42km full marathon at the 15th SKF Goa river marathon on Sunday.
While, Petra, six-times national marathon champion in the Czech Republic clocked 3:04:29 hrs, Nilesh clocked an impressive, 2:48:52 hrs for the distance.
Close to 6,000 runners and 28 per cent women participated in this edition of the SKF-Goa river marathon which had the theme of world peace.
The 32km race, also known as the 20 miler saw some intense competition with Sapna Patel of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh winning the women’s category clocking 2:30:14 hrs, while Prathamesh Paramkar of Belgavi clocked a very quick, 1:48:35 hrs for the first place.
The 32km race saw the most intense competition on Sunday, with the just a few seconds separating the top two male runners. Sachin Poojary of Udupi finished a strong second in 1:49:12 hrs. Hariram Maurya of Wasind, Maharashtra was third in 2:04:44 hrs.
The half marathon (21kms) saw Rutuja Patil of Goa who clocked 1:31:25 hrs and Humen Senapati of North Lakhimpur in Assam who clocked 1:11:05 hrs win this category.
Finally, in the 10km race, Rohini Patil of Kolhapur ( 40:15 mins) and Aniket Shingare of Vasco, Goa ( 30:38 mins) took the top positions.
