Goa Khabar: The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, together with the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), have initiated the development and beautification of Harvalem Waterfall at the Rudreshwar Temple surroundings at Harvalem in Bicholim. The initiative forms part of the state’s ongoing efforts to enhance eco-tourism and Amrit Dharohar as Challenged Based Destinations Development, with the focus on improving facilities for visitors while preserving Goa’s natural heritage.
The programme witnessed the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, in the distinguished presence of Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Power & New and Renewable Energy Shri. Shripad Naik; Hon’ble Minister for Tourism Shri. Rohan A. Khaunte; Hon’ble Rajya Sabha MP Shri. Sadanand Shet Tanavade; along with President BJP Goa State Shri. Damu Naik; Hon’ble Chairman Goa Tourism Development Corporation Shri. Kedar J. Naik; Director of Tourism Shri. Kedar Naik; Managing Director of GTDC Shri. Kuldeep Arolkar; Vice Chairperson, Sankhali Municipal Council Shri. Dayanand Boryekar and President, Shri Rudreshwar Temple, Harvalem Shri. Yashwant Madkar.
Speaking at the event, *Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said,* “Harvalem holds immense cultural and ecological value for Goa. Strengthening such destinations is important not only for tourism but also for the communities that depend on them. We are working towards improving infrastructure in a way that respects the environment and enhances the overall visitor experience.”
*Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte* noted, “Projects like Harvalem reflect our broader vision of diversifying Goa’s tourism offerings. We are focusing on nature-based experiences, improved accessibility, and responsible development that adds value to the local ecosystem and economy.”
*Shri. Kedar J. Naik, Chairman of GTDC, added,* “GTDC continues to strengthen infrastructure at key sites across the State. Harvalem has always been a popular attraction, and these upgrades will help position it more prominently within Goa’s eco-tourism circuits.”
*Hon’ble Rajya Sabha MP Shri. Sadanand Shet Tanavade, said,* “The enhancements planned here are aimed at creating better facilities for visitors while maintaining the integrity of the landscape. Our approach prioritises sustainable planning, safety, and thoughtful design in every element.”
As part of the programme, the Hon’ble Chief Minister inaugurated an AV film presenting the project’s plans and vision. The function was compered by Shri Deepak Narvekar, Dy. General Manager (Marketing), GTDC and Shri Rudreshwar Temple Committee presented mementos to all dignitaries as a gesture of gratitude and support, followed by a vote of thanks proposed by Ex-Minister Shri Dayanand Mandrekar, acknowledging the collective efforts shaping the project.
The initiative forms part of Goa’s broader effort to strengthen tourism infrastructure across natural, cultural, and heritage locations. As similar projects progress across the State, Goa continues to shape a more diverse and experience-driven tourism landscape
