Goa Police Hackathon 2025 – Award ceremony celebrates student innovation in smart policing

Goa Khabar : The final award ceremony of the Goa Police Hackathon 2025 was held today at BITS Pilani Goa Campus, marking the successful culmination of a 48-hour non-stop innovation marathon to build cutting-edge policing tools for the State.

The ceremony commenced with a floral welcome of dignitaries, including Director General of Police, Alok Kumar, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Keshav Ram Chaurasia, and Prof. Suman Kundu, Director of BITS Pilani Goa. A brief summary of the Hackathon was presented by SP Cyber Crime, outlining the collaborative effort that brought together 36 teams from seven colleges across Goa.

Three top-performing student teams showcased their live prototypes:

Zero Code – Night Vigil: Smart Patrolling Verification App

Nagar Rakshak 2 – AI-Based Assistant for Visitors at Police Stations

Eternal Blue – Analytics Tool for 112 Police Helpline Data

A special presentation was made by a team from BITS Pilani Goa on the Investigation Timeline Monitoring Dashboard, designed to ensure timely compliance under the new criminal laws (BNSS).

Address by DGP Goa: In his remarks, Alok Kumar, IPS, applauded the students and faculty for bringing “new energy and creative thinking to real policing challenges.” He emphasized that Goa Police is committed to integrating technology into its operations and that promising solutions from the Hackathon will be taken up for real field deployment.

Address by Director BITS Pilani Goa: Prof. Suman Kundu expressed his pride in BITS Pilani’s association with Goa Police for hosting the Hackathon, highlighting that “such events not only nurture talent but also create socially relevant innovations that benefit the community at large.” He also congratulated the student teams for showing exceptional teamwork under pressure.

The ceremony included the distribution of certificates, trophies, and appreciation letters to all winners and participating students. Mementos were also presented to the judges and core coordinators from Goa Police and BITS Pilani Goa.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by ASP Cyber Crime, followed by refreshments.
