Goa Khabar: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has stated that the BJP government should take swift action against crimes in Goa, warning that the state could turn into ‘Gangs of Goa’ if the situation is not addressed.
Reacting to gunshots fired at Naibag-Pernem over sand extraction disputes, LoP Alemao said that it is shocking that disputes in Goa are increasingly taking the shape of crime.
He demanded thorough investigation of the case and also to check whether moving with guns illegally have become trend in Goa.
“We have always said that there is no fear of police among criminals and those from such backgrounds. The BJP Goa government has failed to maintain law and order and prevent crimes. I hope it acts swiftly to tackle crime before ‘Gangs of Goa’ are established by these criminal minds. Goa is no longer safe for anyone,” he said.
He said that the emboldened Criminals have exposed the BJP government’s failure to maintain law and order.
“In recent times, we have witnessed numerous incidents of goondaism, assaults, dacoities, and robberies. The government has failed to curb these crimes. The police department needs to be proactive in responding to such incidents, but nothing is happening. It is clear that there is no fear of police among criminals,” Alemao added.
