Clube de Salgaocar Cruise to a 4–0 victory over Guardian Angel SC

Goa Khabar : Clube de Salgaocar eased past Guardian Angel SC 4–0 in the Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium in Mapusa on Wednesday.

CD Salgaocar opened the scoring when Tippana’s long ball found Saeesh Halarnkar on the flank who delivered a perfect low cross for Selwyn Miranda to smash home on the first touch. Selwyn doubled the lead before halftime after capitalizing on a defensive error as Royson set him up inside the box to fire in his second of the evening.

After the restart substitute Royal Oliveira made it 3–0 latching onto a through ball from Saeesh, dribbling into the box and curling a composed finish into the bottom-right corner. Royal then sealed his brace moments later racing onto a long ball from Wendell Coelho, rounding the goalkeeper and calmly slotting home to complete the 4–0 rout.

In the first half CD Salgaocar dictated the tempo in midfield creating several clear chances inside the opposition box. Minutes later Shridharnath Gawas lofted a precise through ball from midfield to Selwyn Miranda setting him up one-on-one inside the box. Selwyn controlled well and attempted to chip the advancing Guardian Angel goalkeeper but his effort drifted narrowly wide of the target.

Guardian Angel struggled to find rhythm in midfield as CD Salgaocar began to dominate play. Tippana then launched a long pass from deep picking out Saeesh Halarnkar behind the defence. Saeesh chested it down brilliantly sprinted down the flank and delivered a low cross to the far post where Selwyn arrived in perfect timing to smash home the opener on the volley.

CD Salgaocar nearly doubled their advantage soon after when Royson swung in a teasing cross toward Isac but Guardian Angel keeper Oswin Rodrigues punched it clear. The rebound fell to Selwyn at the edge of the box who controlled and curled a shot toward the far post but midfielder Vicky was alert to head it off the line.

Moments later CD Salgaocar made it 2–0 with Selwyn Miranda bagging his brace. Royson pounced on a defensive lapse near the edge of the box and squared the ball to Selwyn who turned sharply and fired past the keeper giving his side a comfortable two-goal cushion heading into the break.

The second half saw CD Salgaocar continue their dominance. Substitute Royal Oliveira made an instant impact adding his name to the scoresheet by latching onto a through ball from Saeesh Halarnkar weaving into the box and curling a fine effort into the bottom-right corner. Moments later Royal struck again to complete his brace. Wendell Coelho launched a long ball from his own half catching the Guardian Angel defence flat-footed. Royal showed blistering pace to reach it first rounded the onrushing goalkeeper and slotted home with composure.

Despite Guardian Angel’s late efforts to regain control CD Salgaocar’s midfield held firm denying them time and space to create. The final whistle confirmed a commanding 4–0 victory for CD Salgaocar and a performance defined by precision, energy and attacking flair.
