Clube de Salgaocar see off Bidesh XI with a 2–0 victory

The encounter began brightly with both sides trading chances. Bidesh XI nearly took the lead in the 12th minute when Pratamesh’s Gaonkar’s low strike whistled past the post. At the other end, Salgaocar’s intent was clear as their high pressing forced Ronal Gaunkar into a sharp save following a slick passing move in the 20th minute.

The breakthrough came in the 28th minute through Selwyn Miranda, who timed his run perfectly to collect a lofted ball before calmly slotting it into the far corner. The winger continued to threaten, while Bidesh XI almost equalised when Myran’s powerful long-range attempt rattled the post in the 34th minute. A late yellow card for Desmon Pereira capped off a hard-fought first half, with Salgaocar holding a slender 1–0 lead.

The second half saw both managers ring the changes, with Bidesh XI pushing for a way back. Their best chance arrived in the 71st minute, when the skipper was left unmarked but fired wide with the goal at his mercy, a moment that ultimately defined their evening.

As Bidesh XI pressed higher in search of an equaliser, Salgaocar struck the killer blow in the 89th minute. Substitute Joshua D’Silva broke clear, held his nerve one-on-one, and finished clinically to make it 2–0.

With a goal and a tireless display on the left flank, Selwyn Miranda was deservedly named Player of the Match.
