Goa Khabar : Benaulim MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas has demanded that the Goa DGP identify and arrest the culprits behind the brutal assault on social activist Rama Kankonkar within 24 hours, warning that AAP will hit the streets if justice is delayed.

Speaking strongly on the issue, Viegas said the assault was “beyond condemnation” and a shameful reflection of the state of governance in Goa. “Law and order isn’t just collapsed, it seems there is no law and order at all in Goa right now,” he remarked.

The AAP MLA held Chief Minister and Home Minister Pramod Sawant directly responsible for the repeated incidents of violence, gang wars, and assaults across the state. “It is time for the CM to pull all the strings, sit down with the police machinery, and ensure stringent action. Otherwise, such incidents will keep repeating,” Viegas cautioned.

Viegas said the Director General of Police (DGP) must act firmly and independently. “Under your watch, gang wars are happening, rape cases are being reported, and innocent people are being attacked. Politicians may come and go, but your uniform is not given to you by them. You must take charge and curb such incidents,” he urged.

AAP Goa President Adv. Amit Palekar said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has completely failed both as CM and as Home Minister. He stressed that AAP has consistently raised its voice against the collapsing law and order situation in the state.

Palekar pointed out that the assault on Rama Kankonkar in broad daylight was not just an attack on him, but an attack on the ST community and on those acting as whistle-blowers to protect Goa.

Palekar warned that the incident reflects a disturbing reality, criminals have no fear left and the state police machinery has failed to instill any sense of deterrence.

AAP National Spokesperson Valmiki Naik hit out at the BJP government, recalling that when allegations were leveled against Rama Kankonkar in the past, the government had moved within just one hour to arrest him. “Now the same urgency and power should be used to track down the attacker and ensure justice for Kankonkar,” Naik said.

He further cautioned that the assault appears to be a chilling message to all activists in the state that if they raise their voice too much, they will be silenced through violence. “If this is not the case, then the BJP government must immediately identify and arrest the culprit behind this assault,” Naik added.
