Goa Khabar : Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar has sought an urgent appointment with Hon’ble Union Railway MinisterAshwini Vaishnaw to discuss the serious concerns arising from the revelation that the Hubli–Goa railway double tracking project is intended for coal transportation.
Patkar stated that this disclosure has once again exposed the hypocrisy of the BJP government, which has been misleading Goans by projecting the project as one of “development,” while in reality it is aimed at converting Goa into a coal hub to serve the interests of a few crony friends.
He further informed that he, along with Congress MLAs and the South Goa MP from Goa, wishes to meet the Railway Minister personally to convey the objections of Goans and to impress upon the Government of India that Goa will not allow its environment, health, and identity to be compromised.
“Goans have consistently opposed the destructive double tracking project. The Congress Party stands firmly with the people in this fight and will continue to resist any attempt to turn Goa into a coal hub,” Patkar asserted.
