Goa Khabar : Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade called upon Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu Ji, in New Delhi and urged the immediate resumption of the direct Air India flight (AI 145/146) between Goa’s Manohar International Airport, Mopa (GOX), and London Gatwick Airport (LGW).

This non-stop service, which operated thrice a week, was the first regular international route out of Goa, offering seamless connectivity to the United Kingdom. It greatly benefited thousands of Goans, including students, professionals, senior citizens, and families, by avoiding costly and time-consuming stopovers. Since 21st June 2025, however, the flight has remained suspended due to operational adjustments following the Air India Flight 171 incident.

Tanavade conveyed to the Union Minister that Goa’s strong diaspora presence and deep cultural and economic links with the United Kingdom make this flight not just a convenience but a lifeline. Tanavade also highlighted that the prolonged suspension has disrupted travel plans and caused severe hardship for Goans travelling to the UK.

Tanavade appealed to the Union Civil Aviation Minister to restore the service at the earliest, in the interest of Goan passengers and tourism. The Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu Ji assured that the flight would be resumed in the interest of Goa and Goans.
