Goa Khabar : Yesterday, Hon’ble AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge ji, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi ji, and several INDIA bloc MPs were detained while marching from Parliament to the Election Commission. This peaceful march was to protest the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, expose the BJP’s assault on free and fair elections, and demand accountability from the Election Commission for its biased conduct.

The BJP Government’s actions are a blatant misuse of power and a direct threat to India’s democracy. Silencing the Opposition when the Constitution is under attack is unacceptable.

In solidarity, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar, LoP Yuri Alemao, MLA Altone D’Costa, along with office bearers and workers, marched from the Goa Congress PCC Office, Panaji to the Chief Electoral Officer, Goa, at Altinho, to demand that the Election Commission act impartially and stop aiding “Vote Chori.”

The Goa Congress leaders and workers were stopped on the way towards Altinho and detained by the police — yet their voice to defend democracy remains unshaken.

The Congress Party reaffirms its commitment to protecting the Constitution, ensuring free and fair elections, and resisting every attempt to undermine the people’s mandate. Our fight to save and protect People’s right, Democracy and the Constitution of India will continue.
