Goa Khabar : LoP Yuri Alemao, during Zero Hour, raised issues of librarians on a contractual basis contributing to Government-Aided Secondary Schools. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured the house to look into the matter.
“These librarians have no job security as the continuation of the contract for the subsequent year is unassured, and they are totally at the mercy of the management, with payments being irregular. They should be regularised,” Alemao said.
“These librarians had been appointed on a minimal consolidated salary of Rs 14,000 per month. Their appointment is for 10 months on a contract basis, from June to March every year, which has been in place since 2016. As per the scheme the Librarians are appointed in those school which fulfils the criteria of minimum books and other conditions stipulated in the Notification. I feel that there is a need to look into this issue on humanitarian grounds,” Alemao said.
He said that as of now, there are around 130 such youths appointed to the post of librarian on a contract basis across Goa.
