Swift action by North Goa police in heinous incident at Dhargal today morning

• Blind case solved within 9 hours with apprehension of accused

Goa Khabar : On 30.06.2025 at 08.20 hrs received phone call from District Hospital Mapusa informing that one Minor boy Age-17 yrs R/o Dhargal Pernem Goa while he was waiting for bus at Dhargal Pernem to proceed to his college around 07.45 hrs unknown rider of the scooter thrown acid on him due to which he sustained burn injuries. Accordingly, staff were deployed to guard the scene of offence place.

Upon receipt of the information a team was formed consisting of PI Sachin Lokre, PSI Vivek Halarnkar, PSI Pravin Shemepurushkar, PSI Prathmesh Parsekar, PSI Tukaram Chodankar, PSI Sahil Naik, HC-5297 Tirtharaj Mhamal, PC-6823 Sachin Halarnkar, PC-6755 Sagar Khorjuvekar, PC-7072 Krishna Velip, PC-6176 Gurudas Dhuri, PC-7112 Vinayak Parab, PC-8094 Rohan Kepkar, PC-7055 Shashank Sakhalkar, PC-8131 Prajoyt Mayekar and staff of Mopa Airport Police Station and Mandrem Police Station. All the staff were given their specific task to trace the accused in the horrifying incident.

Further upon the complaint of victim’s father Umesh Shetye an FIR was registered at Pernem Police Station vide FIR No. 41/2025 U/s 124(1), 109 BNS and Sec 8(2) of Goa Children’s Act. Thereafter secured the presence of Forensic team and dogs squad at the scene of offence place. Necessary articles and the acid which was used to attack the victim has been attached under the panchanama.

After hectic efforts and based on the credible input received from sources the accused person namely Mr. Nilesh s/o Gajanand Dessai Age, 46 yrs R/o Dabiwadi Kalane, Dodamarg Sindhudurg Maharashtra was traced and apprehended at IDC Karaswada Mapusa Goa. The accused person confessed the commission of crime and disclosed that he had done the said act as his daughter had died one month back and the Sindhudurg Police are investigating the said UD case. Further the accused person informed that the minor boy (who is acid attack victim) suspected to be associated to the death of her daughter as they were in a relationship. The chemical used in the incident is suspected to have been taken from the company accused is working in IDC Karaswada. Two-wheeler used in the crime has been seized.

Further investigation is in progress with PSI Sahil Naik of Pernem Police Station under the supervision of PI Sachin Lokre and overall supervision of SDPO Pernem Salim Shaikh and Shri Rahul Gupta, IPS, SP North Porvorim.
