Samvidhan Hatya Diwas at Raj Bhavan

Goa Khabar : As India marks ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’ it underscores the nation’s commitment to learn from its past and reaffirm its dedication to democracy, the Governor of Goa, P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, has commemorated and conducted a program to mark the ‘Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas’, at Old Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan today.

The Government of India has decided to celebrate 25th 26th June of this one year as ‘Constitution Assassination Day’.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the imposition of the Emergency in India, ‘Samvidhan Hatya Divas’ and the manner in which the country was reduced to a prison during the Emergency, the soul of the country made dumb, the courts made deaf and pens of the writers were made to fall silent, keeping those things in mind and after giving it a thought, it was decided to commemorate as ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’.

The Government of India has announced a year-long observance of “Constitution Murder Day” from June 25. 2025, to June 25, 2026, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Emergency imposed on June 25, 1975. This initiative aims to commemorate one of the darkest chapters in India’s democratic history, raise awareness among citizens especially the youth-and reaffirm India’s commitment to constitutional values, democratic ethics, and civil liberties.
