Goa Khabar : Excitement to take photographs almost proved fatal for a 44-year-old tourist from Gujarat, who fell into the pool below the Dudhsagar waterfalls over the weekend before he was rescued by Drishti Marine lifesavers. The weekend also witnessed the tracing of a missing child, even as two persons were administered first aid following an injury, in separate incidents along Goa’s coastline.

Dudhsagar waterfalls: Lifesaver Shahnawaj Nadaf was forced into action at the waterfall to rescue a 44-year-old male tourist from Gujarat, who had fallen into the pool of water below the falls. The tourist was taking photographs when he slipped and fell into the water, forcing Nadaf to quickly jump into the water and rescue him, using an inflatable rescue tube. In addition to the beaches, Dudhsagar waterfall is also safeguarded by Drishti Marine lifesavers.

Hollant beach: A young girl from Bogmalo, who was visiting Hollant beach in South Goa on an outing with her family, accidentally cut her foot on a piece of glass. An on-duty lifesaver immediately rendered her first aid, before her family took her to the nearest medical facility.

Palolem beach: A 23-year-old man from Bengaluru suffered epileptic fits while walking on the beach, causing him to suddenly fall down. Noticing this, a patrolling lifesaver rushed to his aid and put him in a recovery position, as lifesavers are trained to do. The person gained composure after some time, after which he was handed over to the care of 108 medical emergency personnel.

Colva beach: Drishti Marine lifesavers helped reunite a missing four-year-old child with his parents near Colva beach. The boy, who could not trace his parents, was handed into the care of a lifesaver by a visitor. After 15 minutes of scouring the beach stretch for his parents – that included making announcements from the PA system attached to the lifesavers’ official vehicle – they were finally located and reunited with their missing child after completing identification formalities.
