Goa Khabar : The Fit India Sundays on Cycle event was organized by the Sports Authority of India, Regional Centre, Mumbai, in collaboration with Goa University. It was held on 11th May 2025 at 7:30 a.m. on the Goa University campus. The theme for this edition of the event was “Sundays on Cycle with Lawyers.”
This initiative aims to promote physical fitness and environmental sustainability through community engagement. The Fit India Cycling Drive – Cycling Sundays reflects the core mission of the Fit India Movement of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India — fostering health, fitness, and sustainability. By inspiring millions across the nation to pedal toward a fitter future, it bridges the gap between individual wellness and collective environmental responsibility.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Pandurang Chate (IRS), Regional Director, Sports Authority of India, Regional Centre Mumbai, and Guest of Honour Dr. Rajesh Kumar Hyam, Assistant Professor, School of Physical and Applied Sciences, Goa University. Other distinguished guests included Smt. Apoorva Manda, Assistant Director (Khelo India Division), Sports Authority of India; Mr. Balachandra B. Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University; and Dr. Satyavan Harmalkar, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, Narayan Zantye College, Bicholim.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 200 individuals, including students, teachers, coaches, and members of the legal fraternity from various schools, colleges, on-campus Schools of Goa University, and cycling clubs from across the state.
