Goa Khabar : In a strong show of defiance, the Goa Congress will hold a major protest — the Samvidhan Bachao Abhiyan — today, April 29, 2025, at 4:30 PM at Azad Maidan, Panaji. The protest aims to condemn what the Congress calls the BJP government’s “complete betrayal” of Goa and its people.
The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, led by President Amit Patkar, has called upon all Goans to unite against what it described as rampant corruption, misgovernance, and systematic erosion of Goa’s identity and heritage under the BJP regime.
According to the Congress, the protest will spotlight several critical issues:
The unchecked spread of the drug menace, endangering Goa’s youth and its reputation as a safe tourist destination.
A deepening unemployment crisis, with thousands of Goan youth left without job opportunities even as land prices make it unaffordable for locals to live in their own state.
Rising atrocities against women, Dalits, and tribal communities, with the government allegedly turning a blind eye.
Widespread corruption and corporate cronyism, with Goan lands being sold off to big corporations, and casino dues worth ₹350 crore unpaid.
The failure of the government to deliver on basic needs like water, power, and infrastructure, prioritizing corporate interests over citizen welfare.
Speaking ahead of the protest, Amit Patkar declared, “This is not just a protest against a government; it is a battle for the very soul of Goa. Goa deserves better governance, justice, and a future free from corruption and exploitation.”
The Goa Congress asserts that Goa is now at a crossroads, and that the time has come for people to reclaim their state, their culture, and their rights.
The Samvidhan Bachao Abhiyan is expected to see wide participation from citizens across the state, signaling a significant escalation in the political confrontation ahead of upcoming elections.
