Goa Khabar : On Wednesday, 19th February 2025, at 4:00 PM, a grand procession will be held in Panaji city. Students from all schools in Panaji will participate in this procession, which will feature horse performances, Lezim groups, and traditional drum performances (Dhol-Tasha).
The procession will commence from Mahalaxmi Temple at 4:00 PM and conclude at Azad Maidan. As part of the celebrations, a Fancy dress competition and a fort-building competition will be organized.
Fancy dress competition will be held in 3 categories:
- 1. Primary school students
- 2. High school students
- 3. Open Category
Participants for the Fancy dress competition can register at Mahalaxmi Temple by 4:00 PM.
Fort-Building Competition:
Participants interested in the fort-building competition must bring their forts to Azad Maidan and register by 4:00 PM.
The procession will begin at 4:15 PM from Mahalaxmi Temple.
Distinguished Guests:
The event will be graced by renowned lawyer Adv. Surendra Desai as the chief guest. Special invitees include Mr. Manohar Pandhari Naik, who led the Bhartiya Yuvak sangh who were celebrating Shivjayanti in Panaji during the 1970s. Other dignitaries include Shivjayanti Committee President and Mayor Rohit Monserate, Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Naik, and other committee officials.
The procession will conclude at Azad Maidan with a Powada followed by a prize distribution ceremony at the hands of the distinguished guests. Committee Secretary Mr. Vyankatesh Sawant has urged all Shiv premi to participate in large numbers and make the event a grand success.
